Hi, and welcome to the new blog of the WAY Foundation – an amazing organisation that supports young widows across the UK.
WAY is around 2,000 young men and women who all lost the person they love – through illness, accident, sudden death or suicide. It shouldn’t happen, but it does and it can be the hardest thing in the world to come to terms with.
But we’re not a sad bunch of people wearing black and crying into their beer. We go out for meals, drinks, walks and picnics, we go away for weekends and holidays, we do things with children and we meet up without them – not all of us have children. We do a lot of laughing, and sometimes someone cries too, but that’s OK.
I’m Caroline and I was elected chairman in March at our annual meeting, held this year in Manchester. I have loads of ideas for things to make WAY an even better organisation and I’ll be sharing them on this blog.
If you know of anyone who has been bereaved under 50, tell them about WAY – it could be the start of something great for them.
